After researching in five major Canadian archives and interviewing many people who had lived in the area, I published my book entitled "Pogamasing: The Story of a Northern Lake." My grandfather and his family had a significant impact on the area as he operated a sawmill beside the Spanish River and Wye, the CPR stop during the 's. This book starts a little slow but that is partially because the 'path' of this true story is not what I expected. The man has a great story to tell. He tells it in a very fact based way. We learn all the facts but he does not say much about himself. Something drove him to escape again and again when so many would have given up.4/5.

Bob was a long time resident of first Sudbury, then of Winnipeg and loved to spend time at Pogamasing Lake. Bob will be dearly missed by all of his family. Andy spent his summers at that lake, as a youngster he was a canoe guide and later became a high school teacher. Write Soon and Often is the fascinating story of Donald Cameron Plaunt, a bomber pilot, of Sudbury, Ontario who was killed over Germany in The book is lovingly compiled from letters he wrote to his family and written by his nephew Andy Thomson.

The original title for my book on Lake Pogamasing was ‘ It’s a Camp not a Cottage’. In choosing this title I wanted to explain why we refer to our wilderness retreats as a camp, instead of cottage as used by others, especially in southern Ontario.

Pogamasing book is a very good reason for this difference, although it is not so obvious today. The M.O.P. Book: A Guide Pogamasing book the Only Proven Way to STOP Bedwetting and Accidents [Hodges M.D., Steve, Schlosberg, Suzanne, Acosta, Cristina] on *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers.

Andy Thomson's Pogamasing: The Story of a Northern Lake is a wonderful read of a part of Canada and a cast of Canadians the likes of which we shall not see again. It has drama, humour, history and, on every page, love of a special research is phenomenal and many of the stories the "mattress drownings" in particular are heart wrenching and powerful.

Pogamasing: The Story of a Northern Lake Octo After reading Adam Shoalts' excellent book on A History of Canada in Ten Maps, it occurred to me that a history of Lake Pogamasing could also be written in a similar manner.

There are a few cabins on the lake. Pogamasing is an ojibway word meaning “Where water flows over gravel.”. The train that took us up to Pogamasing was the famous "Bud Car" which travels back and forth every few days along the route between Sudbury and White River. The train was very affordable. By purchasing tickets early, we lucked into a "seat sale" and if memory serves me correctly, we only paid $10 or $12 for a passenger ticket, and $35 per canoe. This article is within the scope of WikiProject Canada, a collaborative effort to improve the coverage of Canada on Wikipedia.
