After researching in five major Canadian archives and interviewing many people who had lived in the area, I published my book entitled "Pogamasing: The Story of a Northern Lake." My grandfather and his family had a significant impact on the area as he operated a sawmill beside the Spanish River and Wye, the CPR stop during the 's. This book starts a little slow but that is partially because the 'path' of this true story is not what I expected. The man has a great story to tell. He tells it in a very fact based way. We learn all the facts but he does not say much about himself. Something drove him to escape again and again when so many would have given up.4/5.

The train that took us up to Pogamasing was the famous "Bud Car" which travels back and forth every few days along the route between Sudbury and White River. The train was very affordable.
